Eternus ("we", "us", or "our") is a digital memory preservation platform that allows users to store personal memories and, with their explicit consent, enable an AI-powered presence for their loved ones after their passing.

2. Data We Collect
We collect data in two ways — information you provide directly, and information generated through your use of the app.
Information you provide:
- Name and email address (when joining the waiting list or creating an account)
- Photos, videos, voice recordings and written memories you choose to upload
- Account preferences and privacy settings
- List of trusted contacts you designate to access your legacy
Information generated automatically:
- Device type and operating system
- Usage patterns and app interaction data (used solely to improve the experience)
- Date and time of uploads and account activity
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to provide and improve the Eternus service. Specifically:
- To store and organise your personal memories securely
- To train your personal AI presence — only with your explicit, prior consent
- To manage access permissions for your designated trusted contacts
- To send you important updates about the service (no marketing without consent)
- To comply with legal obligations
We will never sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for commercial or advertising purposes. Your memories are yours — always.
4. Posthumous Data & AI Presence
This section is unique to Eternus and deserves special attention. By using our platform, you can choose — entirely voluntarily — to allow an AI model to be built from your stored memories and communications style.
- This feature is opt-in only — it is never activated without your explicit consent
- You may revoke this consent at any time while you are alive
- Access to your AI presence is strictly limited to the trusted contacts you personally designate
- Your AI presence will never be used for commercial purposes, advertising or any purpose beyond personal connection
- Designated contacts may request deactivation of the AI presence at any time
We treat posthumous data with the same — if not greater — level of care and respect as data belonging to living users.
5. Data Storage & Security
We are committed to keeping your data safe through industry-standard security practices:
- All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256)
- Access to personal data is strictly limited to authorised team members
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments are conducted
- Servers are hosted within the European Union, in compliance with GDPR
In the event of a data breach that may affect your rights, we will notify you within 72 hours as required by law.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Specifically:
- Waiting list data (name and email) is retained until the service launches or until you request removal
- Account data and memories are retained for the lifetime of your account
- Posthumous data is retained according to the instructions you set during your lifetime
- If no instructions are set, posthumous data will be retained for a maximum of 10 years after account inactivity is confirmed
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.
8. Cookies
Our website uses only essential cookies necessary for basic functionality. We do not use tracking, advertising or analytics cookies without your explicit consent.
You may disable cookies in your browser settings at any time without affecting your use of the main service.
9. Children's Privacy
Eternus is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal data, we will delete it immediately.
